Quite a few people start off the new year searching around for crash diets that work. Everyone wants to lose weight quickly and easily -that's understandable. But diets, like life, are rarely that simple. Do crash diets really work to help you keep off weight?

Too Good To Be True

Although there could be crash diets that work to some degree, many are setting you up for failure right away. Why? Because they make claims that are over the top and untrue. Claims that you won't be able to meet, leading only to disappointment.

In addition to this, crash diets usually target some foods as "good" and others as "bad". Effectively, this forces you to eliminate whole food groups from your diet. Successful dieting really isn't about cutting out whole groups of food: it should be about eating in moderation and learning to control the number of calories you're taking in every day.

When Can Crash Diets Work?

There might be times when you could be able to get crash diets to work. You have to be committed, and you have to target the types of diet plans that promote healthy weight loss. No more diets that drop whole food groups - rather, select diets that are based around balanced food groups and simply cut out over-eating and sugary foods.


Sadly, it's unlikely that fast weight loss is going to bring about long-term results. In theory it may be able to, but in reality most of us will simply put the weight back on faster than we let it go. Just think about how difficult it'll be to stick to your diet when it comes to meals out, parties and holidays! You'll be left feeling deflated either way.

Healthy Weight Loss

Instead of hoping for crash diets that work, you'd be much better off to go about losing weight the right way. This means looking at your diet and exercise as a whole, and looking to make permanent changes rather than going on a two-week diet. Your results may not be seen as quickly, but they'll be much more long lasting and effective over the long term.

Some of the good ideas that work better than searching for crash diets that work include clearing any tempting foods from your house, drinking a lot of water throughout the day, eating more fruit and vegetable to fill you up, and making sure you don't skip any meals. Unfortunately you will have to spend some time on your diet to see long lasting results!
